The Athletic reported that Dortmund intends to loan Chelsea defender An Sermino.

reported that Anselmino has received offers from many Champions League and Europa League clubs outside the UK, but will not join Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg.

Chelsea coach Maresca was asked about the matter by The Athletic at a press conference on Thursday that the club is planning a loan for Anselmino. Although Colville will be out for months with an ACL injury, the team is still ready to let the 20-year-old go.

Maresca said: "He is an excellent player but needs training in games and training outside the loan, and is currently waiting for a solution."

Anselmino transferred from Boca youth to Chelsea in August 2024 for about £17 million, and then loaned back his parent team, but was recalled by the Blues in January this year. Although the Argentine defender trained with the first team until the end of the season, he only made two appearances, once for the U21 team and once for the Club World Cup.

Three hamstring injuries in the past two seasons have affected his playing time, the worst of which is the injury he suffered after returning to Stamford Bridge in February this year. Anselmino has played 23 games for the Boca youth first team, contributing 2 goals and 3 assists.

If a transfer to Dortmund is reached, he will become the second Blues player to loan to the Bundesliga club this year. Chuk Umeka was loaned to Dortmund in the second half of the 2024-25 season, and made 17 appearances during the period. His future at Chelsea is still uncertain, and the club tends to sell it permanently rather than rent it out again.

Chelsea will play away against West Ham on Friday, while Dortmund will usher in its first Bundesliga season against St. Pauli on Saturday.
