The Ole Les Ole reported that if the World Cup expands in 2030, Argentina is expected to hold an entire group stage.

The project has been previously disclosed by South American Football Federation President Alejandro Dominguez and is very likely to receive support from FIFA. 2030 World Cup - this event spanning three continents (Spain and Portugal in Europe, Morocco in Africa, Paraguay in South America, Argentina and Uruguay in South America), will increase to 64 teams instead of 48.

To be precise, under this new system, the importance of South American competition areas will be completely different. Because when the hosting arrangement was announced, it was clearly stated that each South American country would only host one competition. The new plan plans to set up a group stage for each South American football host country, which will allow each host country to host six games, so two stadiums are required, as the last two games of each group must be held at the same time.

The 2026 US, Canada and Mexico World Cup will have 12 four-team groups, with the top two in each group and the third in the eight best group to advance to the top 32 knockout round, so the champion team needs to play eight games to win the championship. The 2030 plan submitted to FIFA envisions setting up 16 four-team groups, with the top two in each group advancing to the top 32 knockout round. In this way, the champion team still needs to go through eight games.

What is particularly important for Argentina is that one of the group stages will be held in the country, and the River Plate home has been officially designated as the first game venue of the national team. If the plan is confirmed to be implemented, another stadium is needed. Previously, the Diego Maradona Stadium in La Plata has been officially designated as the home court of the national team by the Argentine Football Association and is expected to compete.

Meanwhile, Uruguay has determined to use the Centennial Stadium. FIFA has inspected training facilities but has not reviewed the stadium, of which Penarrole is the most modern.

Paraguay is building a new stadium, and the country's authorities need to select another venue.

The remaining 13 group divisions will naturally be held in the main host countries of Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
