According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Meret fractured the second metatarsal of his right foot and may not be able to return until January next year.

During Naples’ training on Friday morning, goalkeeper Meret was injured and was later diagnosed with a fracture of the second metatarsal of his right foot. Naples officials have not disclosed the player's recovery time, but "Gazzetta dello Sport" said that Meret will likely not return to the game until January next year.

In the next game, Naples could only reuse Vania and let him serve as the team's starting goalkeeper. The 28-year-old Serbian goalkeeper Vania moved from Turin to join Naples this summer. This season, Naples coach Conte adopted a goalkeeper rotation system, with Vania and Meret taking turns to start. Meret's injury this time is a good opportunity for Vania to secure his main position.

Meret joined Naples in 2018 and won 2 Serie A championships with the team as the main goalkeeper. However, Meret suffered an arm fracture in 2018, a lumbar fracture twice in 2021 and 2022, and multiple muscle injuries.

Naples' third goalkeeper Contini suffered a hand fracture in September this year and is still recovering from his injury. Therefore, the only goalkeeper available for Naples' first team is Vanja. Currently, the injured in the Naples team include Lukaku, Rahmani, Lobotka and others, and Hoylen has not recovered.
