According to reports, Ajax technical director Alex Kroes notified seven players in a group chat on the social media software "WhatsApp" that they are no longer welcomed by the club and can find their next home on their own.

The seven players include Stuttgart's former player Borna Sosa (27), Arsenal's former player Juba Akpon (29), Manchester City's former player Carlos Forbes (21), as well as Christian Herringson (21), Christian Rasmussen (22), Jay Gort (25) and Van Denboom (29).

Sousa, Akpon and Forbes have three years left in the contract. They were introduced last summer by former sports director Mislintat, when he spent a total of €34 million in transfer fees to sign the three players. Rasmussen and Van Denboom's contract expires in 2027, while Herlingson and Gort's contract expires in 2026. Ajax took severe measures against them, including retrieving the players' parking spaces and allowing seven people to share a physical therapist.

On Saturday local time, the Dutch Players Union (VVCS) criticized Ajax's decision in an official statement: "VVCS was surprised that Ajax was banned against seven players with contracts. These players were explicitly isolated from the first team.

" VVCS believes that this is an unfair form of employment that causes unnecessary public damage to the players, and the players are not responsible for any circumstances. Instead, they were victims of Ajax’s wrong policy that made Mislintat do whatever he wanted at the time. ”
