Müller said: "If Neuer is in good health and performs as well as I know it at Bayern, then I fully believe he can be the No. 1 goalkeeper of Germany at the 2026 World Cup."

Neuer announced his withdrawal from the national team after the European Cup last summer, however, his natural successor Ter Stegen then suffered a serious injury and lost his main position at Barcelona, and he will be away from the field for months due to a recent back surgery. Therefore, national team head coach Nagelsmann could not count on this player in the World Cup qualifiers.
