Marchisio: Juventus shouldn’t make excuses about schedule and need to give Tudor more credit

Former Juventus midfielder Marchisio was interviewed. He analyzed the Bianconeri's performance against Real Madrid and talked about multiple topics related to the current situation of Tudor's team.
Q: What do you think of the young player Yildiz's performance wearing the captain's armband against Real Madrid?
Marchisio: For a young guy like him, wearing the captain's armband at the Bernabeu will definitely be exciting. Obviously there is a lot of pressure, but he is a clear-headed and very hard-working young man. I'm happy for him and hope there will be more opportunities like this in the future.
Q: What do you think of the team’s tactical system? Is a midfield three a better option?
Marchisio: Each of us has our own ideas in terms of formation. I have always believed that a three-midfielder can provide more solutions, but this is not so much a formation issue as a matter of team characteristics. It is necessary to have players who can always be on the field and rotate as little as possible.
Q: Kupmenas has been deployed in multiple different positions this season. How do you think this affects the players?
Marchisio: Kupmenas has often changed roles in the past few months, and I believe it is not easy for him to find a clear position. Hopefully Tudor will find a solution soon.
Q: Do you think Kupmenas’s versatility is a good thing or a bad thing? Does this remind you of your own experience?
Marchisio: Having a clear role in a clear environment can help a distinctive, even important player out of trouble, but he struggled from last season. I myself have had experience in the past playing as a winger, sometimes as a double midfielder, sometimes as a full-back... It makes you versatile, but on a performance level you can also get into a hole that you can't extricate yourself from. He himself has to find a balance, find the right environment, and so does the club, he needs peace.
Q: What do you think of the team’s lack of leadership and difficulty in scoring goals?
Marchisio: This takes time. Juventus lacks leaders not only on the court, but also off the court. At the bottom of the pyramid are the players, but they also need external structural support, and responsibility needs to be given to the entire environment. As for the offensive end, this is a broad problem, if we look at Vlahovic's data, he has not scored a goal for a long time, but he played very well in Madrid and that great opportunity was created by himself through a very wonderful individual performance.
Q: What do you think of the competitive landscape of Serie A and Juventus’ Champions League prospects?
Marchisio: Serie A is becoming more balanced, not at a higher level, but closer to the mid-range level. This means that it will become increasingly difficult for top teams to qualify for the Champions League, and Juventus is also a member of this group. The team that ultimately succeeds will be the team that makes the fewest mistakes.
Q: Do you think Tudor is the right person to lead Juventus forward?
Marchisio: We have to have hope and give him trust. Tudor knows the environment here very well and he was a great former player at Juventus.
Q: What do you think of Tudor’s complaints about the schedule?
Marchisio: Juventus should not look for excuses on the schedule, but should look for and find its own path. In Madrid, the team responded strongly.
