This spring, Jason Tatum was lying on the sofa at his mother's house outside Boston, with a cast on his right leg. He watched his 7-year-old son Deuce play the exciting moments of basketball games on his iPad.

A few days ago, in the last few minutes of an NBA playoff game, the Boston Celtics star forward suddenly fell to the ground while taking a step forward, twisting his body in pain – his Achilles tendon ruptured.

"Deuce," Tatum pointed to the player on the tablet and said to his son, "Do you think Dad can come back to the court and play like that?"

Deuce gave his father a look, as if saying, "This question is so stupid." "Of course," the son told him. Tatum said of his son's confidence, "I really need this. I have had many doubts about myself during this time. But my son thinks I can do anything."
