Da Van defends James: Why is he always criticized? Just because you want to compare with Jordan?
Former NBA coach Stan Van Gundy participated in a podcast program, during which he said he could not understand why there were always criticisms of James.
Van Gundy said: "What is the biggest controversy about this guy off the court...I can never understand why there are those negative comments around him."
"LeBron has been suffering a lot of hatred for all kinds of things for a long time. Whether it is his decision to announce his joining Miami on TV or his conflict with Eric Spoelstra, whatever it is, LeBron has been hated by many people as a player with the most brilliant career in NBA history. We can argue about who is the best player in the NBA, but it is hard to say who has a better career than him."
"What surprised me the most was that this guy has been a national focus since the eighth grade, and what was his biggest controversy on the field? He did nothing but represent basketball and the league well. However, people still have this hatred for him."
"I never understood the negative comments about him. I think a big part of that is that there are many people admiring Michael Jordan, and when people question ‘Whether LeBron is as good as Jordan’, this question becomes a hatred for LeBron rather than appreciation for his achievements. It's unfortunate," Van Gundy added.
