Reporter Anthony Chiang reported that although Powell had not been able to renew his contract with the Clippers, he was interested in signing a contract with the Heat.

Powell said: "I like it here very much, I like everything about the Heat. The culture here suits my personality very well, so I want to stay. I hope they have the same idea."

Powell's current contract is a five-year, $90 million contract signed in the summer of 2021, which will expire in the summer of 2026, when he will become an unrestricted free agent. His salary this season is $20.48 million.
